The Christmas Story

The Christmas Season is upon us.  Time to reflect on the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I have watched programs on the history channel talking about the Christmas story and how the two books in the Bible that talk about His birth give different versions of the story.  So for those that may be confused about what Matthew and Luke have to say, I would like to try to clarity things for you.  I believe it is all in the way you read the story.  Here is what I mean.  The annunciation story where the angel appears to Mary can be read in Luke chapter 1: verse 26-79.  I like to begin reading in verse 5 of Luke chapter 1 because Elisabeth and  Zacharias have a part in the Christmas story as you will see as you read through to verse 79.  This way you have the whole picture for that story.
Next I read Matthew 1:18-25 which talks about the angel appearing to Joseph telling him that Mary's baby is the Christ Child.  I read Luke 2:1-40 about Mary and Joseph's trip to Bethlehem, shepherds and angels, and Simeon and Anna at the temple.  Then I read the story of the wise men found in Matthew 2:1-23.    I hope you enjoy reading the Christmas Story.

Merry Christmas!!!
